Life isn't full of roses

I've been quite busy since February and I dearly miss sharing some stuff here and of course visiting my favorite blog-spots. I would like to think that even if life is not full of roses, I would be able to once again sit down and appreciate those which I happen to chance upon.

I hope to be back in the soonest possible time. Have a lovely weekend folks!

Brightest Blessings!

My Nokia Asha 200

My old Sony Ericsson phone decided to take its last breath sometime February and as sad as I was to see it go, I had to make a decision on what phone to buy so that I can replace it.

When I started working again, I made sure that I segregate my personal and office contacts from each other so that I won't get confused, but the one thing that I didn't want anymore was the hassle of bringing more than one phone to the office.

I decided to look for a phone with these features:

- sturdy
- dual sim capability
- strong signal
- with a qwerty keypad
- camera is not a necessity since I have a dedicated P&S and my other trusty Nikon camera
- music player not a necessity since the Ericsson that I have still plays music but the scree is busted
- internet also not a necessity

In short, I just wanted a phone that would allow me to send and receive text messages as well as call out and receive calls.

The contenders were:

Samsung Ch@t 222 and the Nokia Asha 200.

The winner - Nokia Asha 200! The reason I didn't go for the Ch@t was you need to program the phone as to what sim to use when you make outgoing calls or send text messages. It does not have the option of asking you which sim card to use when performing the said functions. I know for some it's a small thing, but for me, it beats the purpose of owning a dual sim phone.

The Nokia Asha 200 suited my needs better. The sound quality is great for radio, MP3 and of course voice calls. Texting is easy as well, with a qwerty keypad and other shift functions which are similar to that of a computer keyboard. It has a camera which is quite decent, but not enough to satisfy a shutterbug, but then, what would you expect from a budget phone, right? The only downside of the phone - it is prone to fingerprints, but it's nothing as long as you have a soft cloth to wipe it with after you use for the day. And oh, don't forget the battery life. After the first charge, it was able to keep its charge for about 3 days with minimal use - texting people who need to be texted and calling them as well. And if I remember correctly, hubby played a game using the phone and I also played one of the pre-installed games for quite a long time.

Overall, I can say that the Nokia Asha 200 would be a good buy for those who want two basic phones for the price of one.

Looking In | Bucket List

My reverse bucket list.

I would never:

10. Do drugs

9. Stop dreaming

8. Stop hoping

7. Stop loving

6. Stop caring

5. Stop learning

4. Stop living life to the fullest

3. Stop trying to make things better

2. Stop being who I am

1. Stop travelling the road to wellness and self-discovery

A list is just way too short for me to list down the things that I would never do. But, here above is a general idea of the things that I love the most, things that I am not going to give up ever!

Brightest Blessings!

White Rose

Valentine's Day, when hubby got home last night, he surprised me with three long stemmed white roses. What makes it so special is the fact that hubby doesn't normally give me flowers. We've been together for more than a decade now (3 years in the exclusively dating stage and 9 years married) and I can actually count the number of times he surprised me with flowers.

The first time he did was on my birthday 2003, he bought more than a dozen peach roses and had it arranged in a glass vase, then delivered in the office. 2006, he surprised me with three long stemmed red roses with a teddy bear when I got promoted at work and then yesterday, 3 white roses.

When I asked him how he knew that I don't like red roses, he told me that when he smelled the flowers, the white ones didn't give off that much scent and he knew how much I don't like too fragrant flowers. Hmmm, I guess he's psychic since I was having difficulty breathing yesterday and the pollen and scent from red roses would definitely make my asthma worse that it already is.

Researching on the meaning of white roses, here's what I found:

It has also come to mean loyalty and faith, which can be strongly linked to purity. In true love, faithfulness and loyalty are implicit, despite distance or time. For these symbols, white roses are a perfect gift to a beloved who is far away, as they will display not only your love, but also your fidelity. (Source: Wintery Knight)

White roses are sometimes called the “flower of light” and are the bride’s roses. They symbolize unity, sincerity, loyalty, purity, and a love stronger than death. White roses can be mixed with red to emphasize the meaning of love, while white rose buds are an appropriate gift to a young girl from her father. (Source: WiseGeek)

The Story of the Shadow

I'm attending a teaching conference for the last week or so. My world is currently revolving around a schedule that doesn't seem to suit my lifestyle.

As of today, I feel and I am quite sick - fever, cough and colds. Not good!

Even with these small things, I was still able to find some time to take a photo of a good friend of mine. And yes, she loves standing in the shadows of what ever it is that can give her shade in the moment.

Brightest Blessings!
